With Nearly 250,000 Signatures, Pro-Life Leaders and Women Hurt by Abortion Call on the Supreme Court to Overturn Roe v. Wade
WASHINGTON, D.C.—With nearly a quarter of a million signatures collected on a petition, pro-life leaders and women hurt by abortion held a live rally yesterday to call on the Supreme Court of the United States to overturn Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton. A scroll containing names of petition signers was unfurled in front of the Supreme Court as hundreds of onlookers cheered.
Aptly named “The Moral Outcry,” the petition stands on the
premise that U.S. citizens do not accept abortion as the law of the land. Advocates of The Moral Outcry say the petition represents many who wish to see the innocent lives of children in the womb protected under the constitution. Pro-life leaders across the nation have added their voices to the growing movement calling on the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade.
“We are honored that so many have joined us in calling on the Supreme Court to overturn Roe,” said Allan Parker, President of The Justice Foundation, a pro-life nonprofit leading the charge.
“Every child, born or pre-born, has the inalienable right to life given by God,” added Students For Life of America President Kristan Hawkins. “Students for Life of America stands with the hundreds of thousands of signers who call on the Supreme Court to do the right thing and protect the lives of the pre-born. The Pro-Life Generation will not rest until abortion is abolished and made unthinkable.”
Science proves beyond a reasonable doubt that human life begins in the womb and abortion ends the life of a human infant,” said Thomas Glessner, President of the National Institute of Family and Life Advocates. “Pregnancy centers that utilize ultrasound are effective in showing pregnant mothers the truth of the human life within them. Because of the work of these life-affirming agencies, abortions are being reduced. Since science now provides indisputable evidence of the humanity of the unborn, the Supreme Court must now rethink and reverse its ruling in Roe v. Wade.”
“After 46 years and millions of lives lost, the pro-life movement is closer now than ever before to seeing abortion outlawed in states across the country,” said Walker Wildmon, Vice President of Operations, American Family Association. “AFA is proud to
partner with The Moral Outcry in this effort. This partnership is playing a key role in articulating the need for the Supreme Court to correct itself and overturn the travesty that is Roe v. Wade.”
“I’m honored to be presenting nearly a quarter of a million signatures that represent the raised voices of the American people and for those whose voices cannot be heard — the children in the womb. We are the voice for the voiceless,” said Melinda Thybault, creator of The Moral Outcry petition.
“The argument most often used to justify abortion is the burden of a so-called ‘unwanted’ child.
However, every state now has Safe-haven laws allowing mothers to seek adoption at no risk to themselves,” added Mr. Parker. “With millions struggling with infertility and waiting to adopt, every child in America is wanted. In this age of advanced medicine and widespread adoption alternatives, abortion is obsolete. It is time for the Supreme Court to protect both women and children.”
